There are two types of work permit. 1. Open work permit and 2. Employer-specific work permit.

 

Eligibility:

Open work permit: It allows you to work for any employer in Canada, except for an employer:

 

Who is listed as ineligible on the list of employers who have failed to comply with the conditions, or

Who regularly offers striptease, erotic dance, escort services or erotic massages.

Note: You may be eligible for an open work permit if you are in one of the following situations:

 

Permanent residence applicants who have applied to an office in Canada,

Dependent family members of some permanent residence applicants,

Spouses and common-law partners of some workers and international students,

Refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons and their family members,

Some temporary resident permit holders, or

Some young workers participating in special programs.

In each of these situations, you must meet additional criteria to be eligible.

 

Employer-specific work permit: It allows you to work according to the conditions on your work permit, which includes:

 

The name of the employer you can work for,

How long you can work, and

The location where you can work (if applicable).

Procedure:

 

Step 1: Contact ILCB to initiate the Work Permit Program;

Step 2: Submit all required documentation;

Step 3: ILCB submits the application to the concerned authority;

Step 4: After the assessment of Visa Officer, they issues their decision.

 

Fee Structure:

·         Govt. (Processing & Biometric) fees:  CDN$ 240 (C$ 155 & C$ 85) for each applicant;

·         ILCB professional fees: CDN$ 2,000 (1st Inst. C$ 1000 at the time of registration, 2nd inst. C$ 500 at the time of file submission & Final inst. C$ 500 on receipt of final decision)
