New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream
The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream is an economic immigration pathway for experienced entrepreneurs who are ready to establish, operate, and actively manage a business while living and settling in New Brunswick permanently.
An entrepreneur must start a business or purchase an existing business and actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business. After operating the business for 6 months and meeting the requirements of the business performance agreement, the entrepreneur may be nominated by New Brunswick for permanent resident status.
Eligibility Requirements (Minimum):
1. Age: 19 to 59;
2. Education: Completed a minimum education level of Canadian high school (subject to ECA);
3. Language Proficiency: Score 5.0 in each band of IELTS (CLB 04);
4. Net worth: Have a minimum verifiable personal net worth of CAD $500,000 and CAD $300,000 for farming applicants (agricultural sector);
5. Ownership: Business owners must have minimum (51%) ownership in a private sector company;
6. Experience: Must supervise two (02) employees and have 2 years of business ownership or senior management experience in a for-profit business within the past 5 years;
7. Residency: Must reside within 10 km of your business place and 75% of the time of your business establishment period in New Brunswick. Must manage day-to-day business operation at least 9 out of 12 months in a calendar year;
8. Investment: Minimum investment is CAD $150,000 in an eligible business in New Brunswick;
9. Business Plan: Business Plan must be as per the Business Plan Guideline;
10. Job Creation: The proposed business must create or maintain at least one job for a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident in New Brunswick;
11. Exploratory visit: If you have visited NB for 5 business days in the last 12 months;
12. Qualifying score: Have a minimum 65 points out of 100 points;
Eligibility Requirements (Preferred):
Education in NB: If you or your spouse have a diploma or certificate that requires a minimum of 1 year of full-time study from a post-secondary institution in NB;
Work Experience: If you or your spouse have worked 30 hours/week for at least 6 consecutive months in a high-skilled occupation in NB in the last 2 years;
Family Members: If you or your spouse have family members (cousins are not included) over 18 years old who is PR or citizens of Canada living in NB for minimum of 12 months.
Experience in Agriculture: If you are an Entrepreneur in the Agriculture sector and have received a letter of support from the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries;
Language Proficiency: IELTS (CLB 04) of spouse;
Application Process:
Step 1: Assessment of ILCB;
Step 2: Exploratory visit to New Brunswick at least 05 full business days (NBPNP) to research about farm business opportunities and meet farm owners, industry officials, real estate agents etc. for business investment or proposal;
Step 3: Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI) by email including the following:
Business Plan;
Exploratory Visit Reports;
Personal Net Worth Statement;
Narrative of Accumulated Fund.
Step 4: Receive Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) and submit a complete application to NBPNP by mail or in person;
Step 5: Business application assessment by NBPNP Business Immigration Officer (BIO). The officer may invite to attend an interview during the assessment process;
Step 6: Business Performance Agreement and Work Permit Letter;
Step 7: Submit Work Permit to IRCC (2 years work permit);
Step 8: After approval, move to New Brunswick to establish your business within nine (09) months after arrival;
Step 9: After six months of business operation (at least six months), ask for nomination certificate;
Step 10: Receive Nomination by NBPNP;
Step 11: Apply for PR application to IRCC.
